Safe Chainsaw Operations for Volunteers

Join us for one-day beginner chainsaw training course at Willoughby Heritage Farm and Conservation Reserve where foresters from the Illinois Extension will provide hands-on instruction in chainsaw safety, handling, and maintenance. Participants will learn proper starting techniques, the five-step tree felling plan, hinge mechanics, and compression/tension basics, with opportunities to fell live trees (6-10” DBH) and practice bucking. Attendance is limited to ensure personalized guidance, with a maximum of 15 participants.

Please Note: Participants must be 18 or older and there is a fee charged by the Illinois Extension for this course.
