This restoration work complements the nearby Levee Lake Illinois Natural Inventory site, creating a combined 400 acres of protected habitat in the area. Together, these sites preserve one of the finest remaining swamp-pond ecosystems in the American Bottom, providing vital habitat for diverse plant and animal species.
