Overview

The Kathleen Scanlan Conservation Area and Schuetz Addition is part of the state’s largest contiguous bottomland hardwood forest. The preserve is intended to conserve the forest for wildlife habitat and future public access to the Kaskaskia River. Access to the site is currently limited due to lack of public facilities. HeartLands Conservancy is currently exploring public access options and strategies.Β
