Why Conserve Your Land?

Your land is more than property—it’s part of your story. Maybe it’s where your family put down roots, built a life through hard work, or gathered over the years. Maybe it’s where you learned to fix a fence line, watched deer come down to the edge of the woods, or grew your first crop. Land often carries with it a sense of history, responsibility, and pride.

Many landowners want to make sure the land they’ve cared for continues to be cared for. They want to pass along that legacy—not only to their children and grandchildren, but to the community and the wildlife that depend on it. Conserving your land is one way to do that. It’s a practical, voluntary step that keeps land in private ownership while protecting the things that matter—whether that’s productive farmland, clean water, open space, or the natural places where wild turkeys roam and songbirds return each spring.

You might remember fishing in a creek as a kid, hiking into the woods with your grandfather, or watching the fall migration of geese fill the sky. These experiences stay with us. They help define our sense of place—and they remind us how land shapes who we are.
