HeartLands Conservancy is thankful for the contributions of time and talent – many hours of work – provided by our Board of Directors. In 2024, we say thank you to three outgoing board members whose terms are expiring.
Bill Boardman
Bill joined the Board of Directors in 2012. This year he concluded his fourth and final term as the Second Vice-Chair. Bill has been an important perspective and leader among the board members.
Bill’s family farm near Millstadt, Illinois, is preserved forever through a conservation agreement. Because of this, he brought the perspective of conservation landowners to our decision-making. Bill also volunteered his time to assist with stewardship of conserved lands.
We thank Bill for his 12 years of service to HeartLands Conservancy and conservation in the region.
Anne Werner
,Anne joined the HLC Board of Directors in 2018, serving two terms as a member and eventually the Secretary.
A Madison County resident and engineering professor at SIUE, Anne brought important ideas and considerations to the organization. A fierce advocate for open space conservation, Anne brought thoughtfulness to the thousands of acres of land preserved during her tenure on the board. Thank you, Anne!
Carol Gentry
Carol joined the HLC board in 2022 and quickly stepped into a leadership position as the Chair of the Field to Fork event committee. As a Godfrey resident, Carol brought her advocacy for smart growth and quality parks to the board of directors. As leader of the Field to Fork committee for two years, she was responsible for immense revenue growth of the event. Carol, and her husband David, are also incredible volunteers and made other efforts, such as the Native Plant Sale, a breeze.
Thank you, Carol!
