This native Fern has pale green foliage that darkens during the summer and turns gold, then a rich brown in fall and gets its name from the cinnamon wool on the fertile fronds. It grows in clumps in full sun or light shade in ordinary garden soil and is tallest in constantly moist or wet, areas. Fuzz from the young fiddle heads is a favorite nesting material for birds.
