This giant (can grow as tall as 12 feet!) is a native prairie plant that needs plenty of room to grow. Staking may be necessary. In its natural habitat, it often co-occurs with Andropogon gerardii (Big Bluestem). The common name derives from the belief by pioneers that the leaves of Compass Plant always pointed in a north-south direction.
