Wild bergamot is also known as Bee Balm because it attracts bees. It occurs in dryish soils on prairies, dry rocky woods and glade margins, unplanted fields, and along roads and railroads. It is a clump-forming mint family member that typically grows to 2-4′ tall. Wild Bergamot has a tendency to “migrate” in the garden, appearing to move slightly as it sprouts year to year.
