Arlington Wetlands

Arlington Wetlands in Pontoon Beach, Illinois (Madison County) is a public stormwater park that features wetlands, sand prairies, and forests.

Arlington Wetlands was established in 2012 through a partnership between HLC and Madison County. The conservation area features a floating boardwalk over the marsh that lets visitors get close to the unique water birds that call Arlington home. Some birds include black-crowned night herons, great egrets, great blue herons, little blue herons, meadowlarks, and mute swans.

To ensure the property supports wildlife and connects kids and families to nature, improvements are needed.

In 2024, the floating boardwalk became loose and in need of repair to keep it open for kids and families. After several years of families visiting the wetlands, the gravel path from the parking area to the boardwalk needs new gravel.

To keep the wildlife returning, the prairie, wetland, and woods require habitat care, including removing invasive species, adding a greater diversity of plants to the wetland, and general clean up and maintenance.

Your tax-deductible contribution will go directly to this project as well as related community programming. The first $50,000 in donations are being matched by the Mysun Charitable Foundation.

Gifts of any amount are welcome, including donations of stock, contributions from an IRA or Donor Advised Fund, or by check.
