How the Gift in Your Honor Works

Thank you for considering a gift to HeartLands Conservancy through your will or by naming us as a beneficiary. When you make this commitment, a generous local couple will make a $1,000 gift in your honor to support conservation of forests, wetlands, farms, and wildlife habitat across southern Illinois.

Your future gift of any amount through your will ensures that the lands and waters you love will be protected for generations — and it helps make conservation possible right now.

What Counts?

The following types of commitments qualify for this recognition:

  • Including HeartLands Conservancy in your will
  • Naming HeartLands Conservancy as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, life insurance policy, or investment account
  • Designating HeartLands Conservancy through a trust or other planned gift arrangement
  • Arranging a gift of land or real estate that transfers to HeartLands Conservancy through your estate

Every gift, regardless of size, strengthens local conservation and inspires others to join in caring for southern Illinois.

How to Take Part

It’s Simple:
1: Fill out the short form — either online (scroll to the bottom of the page) or by mail. Download a printable form.

Step 2: We’ll send a personal thank-you and confirm that your future gift qualifies for the $1,000 recognition gift.

Step 3: The $1,000 contribution will be made in your honor to advance conservation work happening right now.

Your Privacy and Peace of Mind

You’re always in control of your plans.

There’s no required gift amount. Many people designate a residual amount through their will.

While we would like to add you to the Legacy Circle list, we can keep your name anonymous if you’d prefer.

  • You can change your plans at any time — your commitment simply lets us honor your intentions and thank you during your lifetime.
  • We would love to meet with you to learn what you care about, where that love of the land and water came from, and if you are willing, write a story to honor you and inspire others.
