Tribute Trees

A Tribute That Lasts A Lifetime

Plant a tree in honor or in memory of a loved one. Trees will be planted at one HeartLands Conservancy’s properties or in a publicly accessible forest or park in southern Illinois.

Trees have been planted in honor of parents, grandparents, spouses, friends, and beloved pets or to celebrate joyous occasions, like weddings, anniversaries, or other life moments.

Depending on your wishes, you and/or the person you are honoring will receive a card with the date of the gift and the location of the property where the tree has been planted.

Tribute Trees are planted each season where they are most needed for habitat. Planting occurs seasonally, typically in mid-fall and early spring depending on the weather, to give the trees the best chance at survival. Tribute Trees are not marked individually; however, honorees are added to signs in the preserve where their tree was planted (as soon as feasible).

Want to honor someone without planting a tree? Visit our Dedications and Memorials page for general dedications.
