“Volunteering allows me to do my part in taking care of nature in my local community.”
Madeline Eversmann, a student of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, spent her summer at home in the metro east volunteering with HeartLands Conservancy. She’s passionate about protecting the environment and ensuring a healthy future for all humans, animals, and plants and wanted to do something productive and educational with her time.
“Volunteering has helped me find a community where everyone shares a passion for conservation and giving back. As a student, volunteering has also given me the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in the real world and gain first-hand experience doing the rewarding work it takes to conserve our environment,” she said.
Madeline helped Site Stewards this summer and her work has shown how big of a difference can be made by taking the leap and showing up for conservation. We all appreciate Madeline for spending her summer with us and going above and beyond.
